FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions — Special Educational Needs & Learning Support
What is Special Educational Needs & Learning Support?
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) support is designed to help students who may need additional or adapted educational support to access learning effectively. Dominis focuses on academic and learning support, helping students build skills, confidence and independence while working at an appropriate pace.
Which learning needs can Dominis support?
Depending on the student’s individual requirements and programme availability, support may be suitable for learners with needs associated with ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, literacy difficulties, numeracy difficulties, attention and organisation challenges, and learning confidence. Support is tailored to the student’s educational needs rather than based on a one-size-fits-all approach.
Does Dominis diagnose ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia or other learning difficulties?
No. Dominis provides educational tuition and learning support and does not diagnose medical, developmental or learning conditions. Where a formal assessment or diagnosis is required, parents should consult an appropriately qualified educational, healthcare or specialist professional.
Does my child need a formal diagnosis to receive learning support?
Not necessarily. A student may benefit from additional learning support even without a formal diagnosis. Parents can discuss current learning difficulties, school feedback, academic gaps, attention challenges, literacy or numeracy concerns and existing support plans with our Academic Support Team so that suitable educational support can be considered.
How is teaching adapted for students who need additional support?
Depending on the student’s needs, teaching may include smaller learning steps, clear instructions, structured lesson routines, visual learning support, repeated practice, additional processing time, regular recap and retrieval, reduced cognitive overload and positive, specific feedback. The exact approach should be adapted to the individual student.
Can Dominis support students with Dyslexia?
Yes, educational support may include help with reading fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, writing structure, organisation of ideas and study strategies. Support should complement, rather than replace, any specialist provision recommended by the student’s school or other professionals.
Can Dominis support students with ADHD or attention difficulties?
Yes, where appropriate. Learning support may focus on short, structured tasks, clear lesson goals, regular check-ins, organisation, breaking work into manageable steps, reducing distractions and building independent study habits. The focus remains educational rather than clinical.
Can Dominis support autistic students?
Yes, depending on the student’s individual educational needs and the suitability of our provision. Support may include predictable lesson structure, clear communication, step-by-step explanations, visual support where helpful, individual pacing and preparation for changes or new tasks. Parents are encouraged to share relevant educational information that can help us support the student appropriately.
Do you offer 1-to-1 learning support?
Yes. For many students requiring additional learning support, 1-to-1 tuition can be particularly useful because teaching can be adapted to the student’s pace, communication style, academic level, learning gaps, confidence and individual priorities. Small-group support may also be available where appropriate.
Can my child book a free Special Education / Learning Support demo session?
Yes. Parents can book a FREE demo or initial discussion to share the student’s age or year group, subjects, current academic level, learning difficulties, school feedback, existing support and academic goals. This helps our team understand whether Dominis can provide suitable educational support.
